My Experience

I have been working with children, teens, adults and families for over 20 years. I received a Bachelor's degree from NYU, a Master of Social Work degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and was a post-graduate Fellow at the Child Study Center at Yale University. I have been a licensed clinical social worker in the State of New Jersey since 2005.

My training is in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), which is a goal-oriented approach that focuses on the here-and-now problems you're looking to solve. I'm also trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), and Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE).

Finally, I have three adolescent children of my own, so have first-hand knowledge of - and lots of empathy for - the many challenges that may bring people to see me.

My Approach

As a therapist and parent coach working with teens, adults and parents, I am relaxed, practical and hands-on. My approach is direct and effective, focused on increasing the "tool box" of skills you, your child, or your family can use in all sorts of difficult situations. Working together, we'll set goals based on your immediate concerns, brainstorm solutions, and try out new ways of thinking about and handling problems.

I emphasize a collaborative, nonjudgmental therapy relationship that is focused on creating positive improvements to your mood and changes in your life. It is my goal that people who work with me leave with new skills they can apply to problems in the future.

I offer different types of services, depending on your need, and am happy to have an initial phone conversation to decide what is most appropriate for you.
